Mary Bom Kahama lives and works in Frankfurt am Main, where she studies at the Städelschule in the class of Hassan Khan. Through object-making, installation, and video she adresses configurations of subjecthood, incoherence, desire, and the surface as a site of value. Much of her work emerges through methods of re-staging; attempts at getting closer to what she describes as the affective condition latent in a given image or form. A condition the work sets out to invoke, rather than deconstruct.
Her work has been shown at Mais uno (Lisbon), Etta (Düsseldorf), Kunstverein Aschaffenburg, and Alte Seilerei (Frankfurt am Main) among others.
